To convey and create a sense of a “Cool Breeze” in a room during a hot summer, a Japanese tradition is to decorate with a “bamboo basket.” In my favorite tea ceremony rituals, I often use a bamboo basket as a vase setting in Tokonoma, or in an alcove within the tea ceremony room.
Today we see many bamboo products used as decorative items or artifacts.
How about a bamboo chandelier as an art piece? Japanese artist, Hajime Nakatomi who resides and is actively working in Takeda City, Oita prefecture made a chandelier composed of over 2,000 bamboo strings. It looks very delicate and beautiful! As a Japanese interior designer, I would like to use it for some interior project.
